We use the phrase Holy Reflection and Devotional Living to describe the manner of life Christ lived while physically present on the earth.
In Holy Reflection we immerse ourselves in communion with Father, Son, and Spirit through prayer, fasting, and studying and meditation.1 It is a life that is inwardly rich toward God. In fellowship with Father, Son, and Spirit we grow in intimacy with Father,2 hear the voice of the Shepherd,3 and are led by the Spirit.4 This is loving God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength.
In Devotional Living we work out our salvation as God works in us5 to live out the consequences of our relationship. It is a life that is outwardly rich toward our neighbor. It is the fruit born from a life of abiding6 and the supernatural outflow of Holy Reflection. This is loving our neighbor as our self.
Holy Reflection and Devotional Living is not a lone-ranger lifestyle. It is best practiced in the context of community. We must remember that we all see through a glass dimly.7 Our spiritual family, the people in Christ who know us and love us at our best and worst moments, can help bring clarity and assist us in living as Christ did.
